process: i strained some basic top-soil from walmart of all the sticks and fertilizer clumps ( i let the soil soak for 3 weeks in the sun so i wasnt to worried about harmful additives) and laid a 1 inch layer across the bottom of the tank, then added 1 inch of previously used gravel (out of my 55 gallon african cichlid tank) oh yeah i also squeezed the fillter bacteria from the well cycled cichlid tank onto the dirt before adding gravel. i then filled 2 inches of conditioned (prime) water above gravel and let it sit for 3 days, i added some hornwort to the tank to help the cycle/remove excess nutrients, i planted some nice stalks of moneywort along the back side about 1 inch apart with a propogated lily from my back yard pond (which sprouted 5, 1-inch leaves in 4 days) in the back right corner, filter in the back left corner (whisper 10 gallon, with only sponge instead of carbon pads that came with its as i heard carbon trapped nutrients for plants) there is a log of driftwood in the front with java moss, anubias, and java fern attatched with thread, finally there is a small piece of hornwort floating around still as it quickly took over the tank ( the other three feet now in pond). i filled up the tank and let it sit for about 2 weeks ( because i feel the filter bacteria and used gravel jump started the process) i then started to add fish over a 2 week period, first i bought 2 african dwarf frogs,1 rescued corydora with a missing fin and a betta, then 3 oto cats, 3 red eye tetras , 4 neon tetras, and three ghost shrimp. i plan to remove the betta and one frog for agression purposes, and add 4 more neons and a few shrimp, is this too much? its well filtered with enough plants id think plus there are a lot of surface breathers in there? i dose once a week with flourish excell, flourish comp. plant supplement and i have recently put API root tabs (6 recomended for 10 gallon) near the planted moneywort and lily, i have 2 13 watt cfl 6500k spiral bulbs, but i also have a 10 watt, half daylight, full spectrum , half blue acintic (however u spell it) which two out of the three should i be using? i have had minor success with one 13 watt cfl and one 10 watt cfl/blue acintic

fauna: betta x1, corycat x1, ADF x2, oto cat x3, red eye tetra x3, neon tetra x4, 2 ghost shrimp + 1 baby hitchhiking snail of unknown variety found in javamoss (betta and 1 ADF will soon be vacated)

i tested my water at the lfs after i put fish in and all good signs, havnt tested recently but water is clear, plants seem to be doing well and fish seem happy, also im looking for some good foreground stem/plantable plants for the front and a few taller stem plants to mix in with the money wort to fill in gaps, and ideas/suggestions that would be acceptable with my lighting?

at the bottom i will attach some pictures :) thanks for the help, dylan
Destruction!tag:fishtanktv.com,2013-01-28:6423219:Topic:4082822013-01-28T04:50:09.983ZIkehttp://fishtanktv.com/profile/Ike

Hey Guys,

I'm interested in spawning and raising angelfish. I have two angelfish that are a breeding pair. They're in a 26 tall heavily planted tank by themselves. The water parameters look perfect for spawning. I have the water around 80 degrees F. The female's belly looks very big, it seems she's going to lay any minute now...but she doesn't. The pair have chosen and have been cleaning a spot to spawn for 3 days now..When are they going to spawn!? They've spawned before but it didn't…

Ok, So for probably 2 months now my 10g planted tank has been infested with tiny worms that float and squirm around in the water. I'm assuming they're parasites and they have killed all my tetras and serpeas. I've been treating the aquarium with PraziPro for 2 months also and see no change. I decided to just wait until they're all gone since parasites need a host to live off and there is no fish in the aquarium. WHAT DO I DO!!??
