dustin, i was watching one of your old videos where u were showing off your garage of aquarium stuff and u said ur crazy for this hobby and im getting soo crazy over it as well !! and barely starting im 15 and i was wondering if you had anything spare like bulbs or filter or anything really it would really help me out?

dustin we need to get together i would like to buy some of your plants i am just getting in to plants  but i have 7 tanks from a 10 gallon up to a 75 gallon and i have one kind of plant it is doing good i dont know the name of it though

Hey Dustin, I have a huge glass tank. Had it for 15 years in storage.........torture !!! I am gonna set it up with discus planting warm water loving plants. Discus like it warmer than most tropicals. The tank is so big that to use Takeshi Amano soil would require a mortgage (££££££). So i am going with dirt  !! I want to cap the dirt with sand. Would this be too anaerobic ???

I would just like to say 2 things. 1: I really really really appreciate the work you do and information that you share, your experiences and knowledge have helped me out alot already and i continue following your videos and what not, thank you. 2: I would like to see you do a video on UV Sterilizers and how they affect your tank.

Hey Dustin,

My fiancee found a very porus rock possibly volcanic rock in her backyard. Could you use it in a Tropical Freshwater tank. However, I would have to get the rock to confirm if its volcanic or not because my fiancee's ipod cam isn't the greatest for taking detailed videos. Either way, how would you go about preparing it for the tank, or would it be just a really bad idea? I need some help with this. Cause I have a good idea that using this porus rock would be a good breeding ground for "good bacteria" to colonize. However my other concern is whether or not it would release a heavy carbon count, heavy metals, concentrated minerals, sulfer, and acids into the water. Not sure what do about this. So can you help me? :)

I enjoy your videos and tha site is great. I wanted to ask you and you may have already talked about this in your videos but I was wondering if you run carbon filtration on your planted aquariums and if not what can I use as a replacement?

Dustin. . . My advice for you is to use solar panels for power you need for greenhouse.

hey brother, just wanted to drop you a thanks for the videos big help. got 3 tanks, 55 with cichlids banging peacocks, 30 gal and my recent planted 20 gallon thanks to you, first timer, virgin to plants. had now for 2 weeks looking good, hysteria, java fern, hornwort and etc.. In my cichlid tank putting anubias on driftwood and swords, java fern and hornwort. with cichlids thought bout banding the swords java and wort on small slat rock pieces and putting in gravel, will that work? First time member after watching videos. thanks, kid is awesome...

yes. the pond is about 100 gallons...estimated.  in the summer the water temp can reach 100 degrees. the 96 gallon sump basically double the water volume, and acts as a crude heat exchanger.  there is a diy sponge filter in the pond attached to a 225 gph power head.  the 1/2" pvc runs into the bottom of the sump and rises up , cools, then spills back into 2 return lines. i tossed some bio balls in the sump.  after 2 weeks the water has gone from thick green to crystal clear. and the temp is always cool .
