While I was going to University, I let my aquarium hobby go down the drain. I was just too busy. The year I graduated, I got a job in the biology dept, and had to help clean out the student labs and get ready for the next year. They had one lonesome Betta left over from a behavior lab, and were going to flush it!!??!! I could not stand for this atrocity, so I bagged him up and took him home. Unfortunately, I had sold all my aquariums, so he lived in a large pickle jar for a while. People would come over and see him, and say, "I have a tank you can have". This thin edge of the wedge Betta caused me to begin a new phase of fanatical aquarium keeping, that had me end up with 8 tanks of varying sizes, breeding pairs of cichlids, a fancy guppy strain (the rejects were food for the cichlids), and no room in my home for furniture. For me, I have found a Betta to be a very, very expensive fish. This is a very nice one. Hmmm, I have a 2 gallon tank in the garage, and some free space on my kitchen island..........Maybe I should have just one more tank running ;)
