Hey guys! This is a video on my new baby crested gecko and also a breeding update! We are going to start getting into breeding cresteds, so we been doing alot of research and started setting up a little breeding rack. Also we picked up a hatchling from Big Fat Gecko, which I show in this video, and in the next couple months I will be receiving a gecko from JB's Cresties which I am very excited about! My other female gecko that you guys have seen on my channel is doing great and I will be making an update video on her very soon! Facts:

So crested geckos are fairly recently rediscovered, they were thought to be extinct until 1994 when they were found in New Caledonia, which is a group of islands off the east coast of Australia. Crested geckos scientific name is Rhacodactylus ciliatus. Rhacodactylus is of the greek origin and in translation means "spine toes". And Ciliatus is Latin for "fringe" or "eyelash". Crested geckos grow to be approximately 8" in length, which is including its tail. Non like some lizards, if a crested gecko looses its tail, it can not grow it back. The crested gecko has no eyelids, only a transparent membrane that serves as a protective cover. They use their tongue to clean and moisten their eyes. Their skin is very silky feeling to touch and they do shed regularly, they actually eat the outgrown skin as they remove it from their body. One of the most well-known facts about crested geckos is that they are nocturnal. which means they sleep all through the day and are active at night and look for food. Their life span is estimated around 15 through 20 years! Their is still some mysteries about the species, since it was just rediscovered fairly recently.
