Iv been reading about silent cycling. It's when you set up a new tank with lots of plants witch most of us do allready but my question is does this stall the bacteria growth? Because the plants use ammonia befor bacteria can develop. So here's my situation I set up my 55 gal 2 weeks ago new dirt and gravel and one established filter, fairly well planted and lightly stocked fish. But I haven't seen the usual ammonia and nitrate spike my readings are 0 across the board is my cycling process stalled?

Your correct, the plants use the ammonia so the reality is there is little to no actual "cycling" in the well planted tank. A mini cycle may occur once a sufficient bio-load exists that exceeds the plants ability to process, but even that is rare. Plants are a buffer that allow balance more quickly than tanks w/o plants.
