Hey people new here and wanting you expert opinions on this, i have a 45 gallon with good filtration and such stock consists of 1 whiptail pleco 1 Raphael cat and my two problems a Jack Dempsey and Green terror there not huge or anything yet about 4 inches right now. I only being in this hobby for 3 years and only dealing cichlids for about 1 year realize that a jack and terror will become to big in a matter of a year or so. But thats not my main problem, There incredibly antisocial and hid when ever anyone walks in the room. Sometimes with me they stay out but any moving of the arms and there gone. So im mainly looking for a solution to this if ya'll got nothing then i guess ill "reinvent" the tank. Any suggestions are welcome.

I'm glad you're not keeping these aggressive cichlids in community tanks. They're very territorial and in the closed confines of a tank they can kill other fish. But I'm sure you already know this.

They become less shy once they begin associating you with food.

I have had cichlids for many years and currently have 10 to 12 peacocks, blood parrots and 2 blue hasp. I agree with time, they are extremely smart fish and will learn your behavior. When I come around the tank or anyone they all come out to greet me or others. When I turn the lights on they all come out thinking its feeding time. Try leaving lights out and turn them on when feeding, dont over feed and they will begin to look for lights coming on time to come out and feed.
