Thats awesome because i have five tanks to. One with 3 striata botia, 2 S.Europterus, 1 pleco, 3 upside down cats, 2 corys. The reason why i dont have my corys in a school is because i bought them when i didnt have much knowledge and they have done perfectly fine in the pair and are best buds. A while back they went into a breeding ritual but didnt find any eggs so guess they never breeded. Love your tanks and i think five is anough for me to for now.
ya i heard the Xingu polka dots were pretty rare, you have quite the collection of plecos thats awesome. I only have 2 hypostumus plecostumus but there pretty neat. I wish i had a Xingu polka dot i think there pretty cool.
pleco wafers, tablets. chips and the usual zuchinni supply.
they will eat a quarter of zuchinni every other day.
You really got hypostomusses as well?
They are pretty rare here too. Mostly they get confused with members of the pterigoplychtis family. But they are easy to distunguish, if you count the number of finspines of it's back fin. If it's 10 or more, it's a common pleco, hypostomus got less then 10 backfinspines. Plus they stay at 1 foot, while the commons grow upto 2 feet,
ow i did not now that when you count the back spines if it is 10 or more it is a common pleco and less than 10 is a hypostomus thats pretty cool. I have the common pleco because i just counted and they both have 10 back finspines thanks for letting me now how to tell the difference i think thats pretty neat.
ya i like the 180 gallon tank where did you get that rock background it looks cool cant find them around here or did you make the background. see you have the monsterfishkeepers sticker on the 180 it cool. I liked the 55 gallon community where did you get the polka dot botia have found any around here love the pics of the tanks.
I checked out the link and read your article that was very interesting, wish i could make one of those backgrounds for my 55 gallon but seems like a lot of work and time and i am always doing something and dont now if i would have the time to make one very cool though. You have a special pleco supplier thats awesome wish i had one so i could get all those rare exotic fish thats cool though. I go to a profesional aquarium and fish supplier but i can only go there a couple times a year because it is a 2 hour drive. They have realy healthy fish also very large oddball fish and rare fish, thanks for giving me the link to OscarFishLover.
Ow ya is your 180 acrylic or glass cause in one of the pictures in the background article it looked like you had a acrylic top on the tank i was just wondering.
My rare fish come from a sopplier a 2,5 hour drive...
And to make clear how small our country is, anyway i drive, for 3 hours tops, i'm out of our country.
i was just lucky to get the oddball plecos just before the plecoban had started. export of a LOT of pleco's had been prohibited nowadays, so no other people can get the same pleco's anymore.
I love my Xingu L354 pleco, for he has very deep crevices in his armour, that makes him look very pre-historical. LOL
My tank is full glass, with 2 layers of thick glass on top, with the lights in between those layers, combined with a big pond airaetor and 4 airstones. I do this , to heat the tank with, so i don't need a heater!
Working with epoxiresin is indeed a lot of work, and it takes quite a lot of volume out of your tank, esp. if your make the structure as deep as in mine. But in my case the big sump makes up for that and adds quite a few gallons.

The background is a DIY.
It's styrofoam, covered with epoxiresin.
I wrote an article on OscarFishLover that explains how it's done.:
Here's a link:

if you have any questions , just ask away, and i'll try to explain.
The Polka dot botia's came from my special pleco supplier, and he imports a lot of Uberrare fish.
So i understand you can't find them.lol
