55 gallon stocking

Im thinking of gtting my first sw tank. which should tll you something right off the bat. IM A BEGGINNER!! What is a good stocking list for a 55 gallon reef tank? make sure the fish are begginer fish and that they are REEF SAFE!! Also I want to havbe tangs in there so make sure the fish are conpatible with tangs. :) thanks!!!

if ur a down right beginner then u shouldnt try reefs however here are some easy to keep fishes clownfish (amphiprion ocellaris) green chromis (chromis cearulea) blue chromis (chromis viridis) firefish (nemateleotris magnificus) kaudrens cardinal fish (pterapogon kauderns) thats about all i know however think about the costs brendan corals arent cheap and most of these fish cost an upwards of $10 plus ur gonna need a RO unit $300 (u can also buy water from the store) mixing in salt and dealing salintity is easy, but time consuming.for filtrainon u need tons of water movement plenty of filtration and a protein skimmer. live rock and sand witch is the basic thing in a reef is also expensive when u require just about 1 lb a gallon. i havent even try reefs only heard about them from other people and read books on them, so i could be making this seem worse then it is but u have to be ready for a lot of work and emptying your pockets of cash

well, do I need RO water? I heard I can get distiled water from the supermarket and mix it with seasalt.

I also heard you don't need a protein skimmer but you have to do water changes more often.

You can get an RODI unit from Spectrapure for about $150-$200, and I highly recommend that you do. It's an investment that will aid you in the long run. Distilled water can work fine, but RODI is highly preferred. NEVER use tapwater, because it will add nitrates, phosphates, and all sorts of minerals that you don't want. Take it from me: when I used tapwater for the first 4 months, I got all kinds of algae: red, green, and even brown (though technically brown equals diatoms). Regarding reef safe beginner fish, you can try clownfish, most damsels, chromis, cardinalfish (kaudern's cardinal and pajama cardinals are common), and some gobies. Tangs, however, are a no. Even with a 55 gallon, it wouldn't have the much needed space that a 90+ gallon could provide. I mainly say this to avoid bringing stress to the fish.
