Ok so the largest tank I have ever done is my 40g tank. I don't want to say that I'm bored with it but its just not enough anymore. I have 3 other tanks that are 10 gallons and smaller plus an outdoor one thats about 16 gallon plastic rubber maid like thing for plants, but I want another pretty big tank to do. Only thing is I can't make up my mind on what size. Is there any advantages or disadvantages to having too large of a tank or anything like that? The only real thing I can think of as I go bigger is the initial set up cost having to buy more things. I am leaning to 75-90 tank. Thanks for all the help.

I'm in the same boat.  I have a 46 bow, but I want a 40 breeder for all the depth it provides.
always get the biggest tank you can afford so you don't have to upgrade later on...

The bigger the more work you have to do for maintenance such as longer water changes and such.

But the great thing about is that you have more leeway of when things go bad, The presentation is

more fun to look at.

Just like any other fish tanks. Make sure you plan ahead of location because it really does make a huge difference. example directions of sunlight, distance to do water changes, great location to view in all angles, able to get on top of the tank, etc. Also can you afford keeping it? When going big, its rewarding with the cost. I went 55 gallon Long and it took me sometime to think it over with a plan. That is my limit because to me, it is the mid way of all tanks of common commercial stuff within my budget.

ok So after spending a day driving around all the lfs trying to find plants for my 5g tank I have decided I want to do a 75g E tank. I don't know what the e stands for I just saw it on all the models that were a little bit wider then the ones being sold as show tanks. I found one on craigs list with filter stand and other stuff for $100. My 40g tank was bought used but it was being used when I got it and wasn;t too old. By the picks of the 75g one it looks to have been outside for awhile and the add says its 3 yrs old. How long do tanks last for one? And how fast will the adhesive deteriorate in 113 degree weather? I was thinking for $100 I could clean the crap out of it and let it sit outside for a few days to find leaks or even just go threw and re-seal everything just to be sure.?
55-90 are all 48inches long just different hight and width on glass (sides & depth)
