Hi everyone. I just got a 56g column tank (30x18x24) and was wondering what type of lights i would need to have medium lighing. These are what im looking at http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002LTL4SK/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_.... What are some LED options that are not going to break my bank?

Those lights are perfect for med light maybe even high. For get LED lights their too expensive ATM and not worth it

You can always do a Makers LED kit if you like to build projects. I did mine for a little over 200 bucks for a six inch kit and I have a few led's left over.... Honestly the up front cost is a little more than t5ho, but there is little to no maintenance required after you build it up...

I've done some more digging around and found a lot of people like to use this one Fennex Ray 2. Its a decent price and it gives pretty good par values. 

I have been loving the Current USA Satellite freshwater plus strips. They seem to work well in the long and short tanks(Which I am going to start on a Mr.Aqua next). Also if you have kids they can play with the lighting effects.

If you are in the semi custom market take a look at this company called Build My Led. You can buy one that is already setup for the correct color, or you can custom make your own. Its not too spendy and beats building your own for those whom are a little less mechanically inclined.
