I want to get some Algae eaters for my 40 gallon tank. I will be getting them in a couple months as my tank is fairly new. I was thinking a bristlenose pleco but I heard they leave a lot of waste and generally don't want that. Iv'e heard of Oto's but they seem to die easy. I think i'll be putting 4 snails in my tank also. So what are some good algae eaters it will be a community tank planted. Please give me some suggestions :D

Plecos leave a lot of waste because they eat a lot of algae. Mollies like to pick away at algae too.

jus go with otos if u are gonna do a planted tank. Plecos jus uproot plants all the time and not a good idea. otos only die fast if u don't acclimate them to your tank right before trowing them in. i have 12 otos in my 55g and not 1 has died

Well i have a 150gal planted tank and there are currently no fish in itbecause i will be leaving for military service for 6mths but, that being said, it doesn't mean there isn't algae and i purchased 3 dozen ghost shrimp and 6 small Otocinclus Vittatus Catfish and they are wonderful. They don't get much larger than 1- 1.5in and never lose their appetie are eat food and stop eating algae like some do. Siamese Algae Eaters are another good species but, are commonly mistaken for the Chinese Algae Eaters which are not nearly as efficient or productive. I would recoomend tese 2 breeds to anyone.
