any pics of your algae/tank?when u say co2 is it diy or pressured system?
Yea ...me too ...whats up with that brown algae that covers all the mature leaves- I have a 30 gal and recently added plants potted in dirt topped with gravel and DIY co2- Great bio wheel filtration and 10% water change daily-1 t-5 grow bulb
Jody, The organics in the dirt has caused a Diatom algae and/or cladophora outbreak. This is a big problem with using dirt that people are not often sharing about.
1stly, dirted tanks u must get rid of excess nutrients by doing water changes,up to 90%.i usually did fill & drain in a week 3 times.plus adding duckweeds will help.after wweel or so then i started adding plants.sure some species will melt, but it will come back.2ndly diy co2,u can't control the bubbles ppm...i think that's what happen to your tank excess nutrients & excess co2,leads to algae bloom.unless pressured co2 system.
try to drain & fill a few times in a week or so, then start introducing plant that you want.its a good way to the get multiple species of plants..& u follow on from there,
hope that will help...
upload some of the pics for viewing.
than again i maybe wrong...
Ok - Thanks for the input-I have a lot to learn about keeping a planted tank -I will make adjustments- I have never uploaded pics-gonna have to give that a try.Huge learning curve for me all things considered.
