I have a 55 g planted tank with a Odyssea T5 double bulb (108w) fixture. I have brown algae. Would a UV help and if so is an in line better than a internal?

UV wont do anything for brown algae.  It's effective in removing blue green algae or other bacterial blooms.

I just put in a UV filter about 2 weeks ago, doesn't seem to help with the algae, but it sure cleared up my water.  I have never seen it as crystal clear as it is now, took about 2 days in a 90 gallon.  I will probably always have one.
