I know their stuff is cheap and all, but how much do you lose in quality? I am trying to set up a decent planted dirt tank on a smallish budget and I am wondering if it would be better to spend 100-150ish on lights instead of the like 80ish dollars for the Odysseus lights.

alot of people use them...

I would shop around first for better price like amazon and ebay.

It also depend of what you want...T5HO ?

Sweet! Thank you that helped a lot.

Yo dont spend that much on lights. Do what i did and go to Wal-Mart and buy clip on lights and compact fluorescent bulbs.

For my 29g tank i boulght 2 clip on lamps ($4 each) and 2 compact fluorescent light bulbs ($8)

Just make sure the bulbs you get are "daylight" bulbs and are in the 6400k-6500k range. it should say on the pack. The bulbs i bought were 26 watts each and i saved SO much money and now have good lighting for my tank.

nah they only work on nano tanks, yes they are the right spectrum but low intensity. i have an aquatraders odyssea fixture 4 T5HO works amazing be sure to get a cheapo analog timer from ur local hardware store. plants do best between 10-13 hrs of light like they would get in the tropics. too much and u feed algae tho
