Are tiger barbs nice fish to have?

I'm going to be getting a larger aquarium for my birthday, most likely a 20 gallon (If I can get enough money, maybe a 30) and I was thinking of a species tank, just one kind of fish.
It's going to be a planted tank, natural-colored gravel, maybe wood. I think the orangey color of the tiger barbs can look attractive.
Do they have interesting characters? Do they swim together or are they all over the place? Are they friendly (compared to cherry barbs, mine are super friendly!)
Thanks! I quite like how tiger barbs look at the pet store, and I think their aggressive reputation makes them interesting :)

tiger barb should be house with tough fish and no bettas please...you don't wanna know what they will do.

 

they can get pretty aggressive and if you like them..i see no problem

Tiger barbs are good hardy fish, buy they do need to be kept in a school of at least 5. Keeping less will make them fin nip each other.
