I'm setting up a 2.5 gallon tank and would like to do a planted tank.

1.  I would like plants that are hardy.

2.  I don't have a light because the room I'm putting it in gets a lot of sunlight is this alright?

3.  I don't want to use dirt and was wondering if I can use fertilizers instead?

4.  Will most plants be ok in a gravel substrate?

5.  I don't want to do anything to fancy so please keep it simple.  thx :D

1. for a tank that size id use a small amazon sword, and/or java moss

2.its ok as long as the tank is some where close to the window, its may be better cause you get the perfect amount of sun light

3. if you're talking about soil that fine

4. any plant will be ok in gravel

5. ok hahaha

hope this is helpful for you

 thx a lot.  :D

How about Anubias?

plants that are hardy would be fast growing plants. so like for example, jungle vals, dwarf sags, crypts, and all those fast growing plants. I would recommend because you are a beginner that you start off with some low light plants first because other plants like dwarf baby tears and hairgrass will need co2, but it is your choice. do what you gotta do.

yeah I would love Jungle Val, but I don't think my LFS has it.  :(  I hope they have dwarf sags.  I'm thinking of getting Amazon Swords, Anubias, Java Fern, and Dwarf Sag if they have it.  Are those good plants and do I have to use fertilizers?  I'm not using soil and I don't want to use fertilizers if I don't have to.
