Is it out of the question to put one or two otto cats in with a betta in a 5 gallon I am soon going to set up. I have searched over the internet and some say yes some say no. The tank will be heavily planted and I have some seachem de nitrate to help. I know it would be slightly over stocked and otto's prefer a larger tank, but I want someone with past experience to answer, did it work or not. I have algae wafers to feed them and have done a lot of research. Thanks
Also if not ottos is there anything else fishwise?

Is it possible yea it's possible It's also possible that ur betta will kill an Otto wen the otto is stationary. I've kept a betta with 2 neons before in a 3 gallon for a bit the betta couldn't catch the neons and jus accepted them as his neighbor lol. The. I moved them to a 10 g and added 8 more neons and never did I lose 1. Even thou ottos are faster then Neons in the burst speed category they stay stationary wen suckin on algae. But overall yes u can do it.

Thanks but I might not put them in my 5 gallon, maybe in my 15 gallon another time.

NicE 15g is way better than 5
