You should try n rub the algae off the plants while their still in the gravel so u don't keeps ong them in and out of the water. Try cutting down the time ur lights are on to maybe 8 hrs also u can try getting a albino bristle nose plec they love algae an stay less than 6" or get some cherry shrimp  their a bit pricey but in te right conditions they breed like crazy. That's all the info I can give u with the info u provided.

It could dirt. I get dirt build on my glass every 2 weeks which i scrub off when i do my water change even though I capped it off with 2 inches of gravel.
