I'm wanting to start a planted tank again. This one is a 75 gallon, (i've had ten and twenty g. planted ones before but with just dirt). I have purchased two 40 pounds bags of safe-t-sorb (100% fuller's clay) and have read else where to fill a gallon bucket with the sorb then with water then add ferts to "charge" the sorb, it soaks and supposedly stores the ferts for an amount of time for the roots. Does this work? Has anyone tried this? I was thinking of either putting the organic choice dirt under the sorb (bottom of tank) or mixing it in with the sorb. then capping with small pebble stone or river rock. Any advice on these methods? Thank you much!
