it could be protein.  add some aeration to move the water some more, it will prevent film on the surface.

I'll try that thanks. I've also got a filter hooked up so the water hasn't exactly been sitting still but I'll hook up the air pump

i have those on my tank..not a big deal...

 

aeration on top of the water to help move it will disappear...
