Co2 and filter problem

What kind of canister filter is the best in terms of durability and affordability?? Since I got my aquaclear filter 110 it actually digs up my substrate gravel and im affeaid if I buy plants it will destroy the foundation! Does anyone had tge same problem? Let me know thanks!
