Compact fluorescents killed my angelfish?

Just started a planted tank with angelfish. Woke up this morning fish were fine came home all dead. Filter was cycled all water parameters were perfect. Only thing I found was white powder all over fluorescent bulbs that I think leaked into the water. Anyone ever heard of such a thing.
