yeah, a few of the guys on here have made their own stands, nick (wet world) made a nice lookin black stand that looks pretty much like a bought one for his 100G tank
hes a really helpful and friendly guy (also from uk) so im sure he'd have some great advice for ya
use cinder blocks and 2x12s/ larger boards like that, lay a board down for the bottom and stack your cinder blocks up, you can make shelves or whatever you want in between the blocks too, if you do it right you will have space on the outside of the blocks to tack whatever kind of doors or cabinet you want to it. my words dont do this justice i gotta find the link. this could be used with any size tank really, and you can fully customize it to your needs........... here it is http://virtuallyamy.wordpress.com/2008/08/13/build-a-strong-inexpen...
in your case id use 2x10s, with 2 side by side it would leave enough overhang to attatch whatever you want to the front and sides, good luck!
Yeah I built my own out of 2X4's and a few pieces of 1X2. Panted it and distressed it with some rough sand paper and it looks like a designer piece you would find in some expensive boutique. Cost me under 40 bucks.
yes, you can. if you look at my pics. i made the stand and canopy for my 55 gallon. FYI don't use a battery operated saw it took my about a month to cut he wood because my battery keep dying.
http://www.aquariumlife.net/projects/diy-aquarium-stand/56.asp go to that website and it will tell you step-by-step on how to build one and it has pic for visual affect. I didn't do mine "JUST" like it but i took the info and put it to my own application.
Absolutely, check out mine for a 20G Long & I'm no carpenter.
