dirt help

is it bad if my dirt and cap is too thick??? i have an average of 3 inches(counting the dirt and the cap on top of it) hight of the subtrate in my 55g.... this is my first time dirting a tank so i think it might be a little too much but i dont know...

It sounds good to me just make sure u push the plant roots down to the dirt
