Dustin and many other fishtanktv people have said that your supposed to mix the dirt with water until its a muddy consistency but not overly wet before you cap it. This is supposed to release air bubbles. Also if you dirt a tank u have to do quite a few water changes, two 100% changes the first day, 25% change the next day, then in like 3 days do another 25% change and then you can go back to your regular water change schedule. mix in water with the dirt first
