Filtering for a 5 gallon

Hey everyone, i just got a 5.5 gallon aquarium for my shrimp, instead of using my old 1.5 gal.  So i have no spare cash (my parents wont let me buy a new filter) and im stuck with a nano filter. It filters 60 liters per hour. If i face the outflow horizontally, would that suffice for circulation?  It is also a heavily planted tank with dirt.

If u can somehow manage to save 10 bucks petco and petsmart sell a small intank filter that goes for 10 bucks I'll find the link for u
