Just getting back into the hobby but I used to breed GBR's in their own 10 gallon planted tank - soft water (filtered through peat moss) with lots of hiding places, driftwood, and caves (flower pots, etc.) - used a sponge filter so there was not excess water movement and let nature take her course - seemed to have a lot of luck this way. Used to "kick start" the breeding with the addition of live food.
