Glossostigma Elatinoides

So I bought a pot of glosso about a month ago or so and now I have only about 1/6th of the pot left ;(

I planted the glosso in small clumps but algae took over (Staghorn) I don't have CO2 and I'm not planning to get it but i have pretty good  lighting ZOomed t5h0 48 watts over 29 GAL

so if i increase the light right now (at 24 watts right now only 1 bulb running) will the glosso do better or will it get run over by algae again? I have petco white sand but I have leaf zone and root tabs soo.... now what? I also have some riccia so i COULD MAYBE start a carpet with it but idk
