If you do not have plants, I would keep the lights off and start doing some big wc's every other day. If you have plants cut the lights back a little, maybe even black it out for a day, do some big wc's. I keep a uv ster. On hand just for this reason. I've only used it once in the last 4 or 5 yrs but it will clear green water quick. The biggest thing is to find out why this happen, overfeeding etc. Just so you can't prevent it from happening again. Good luck!

Ya I have plants I am looking to get the green killing machine. Something like that. Anybody knows if that is a quality uv ster.  This happened to over lighting.

Just turn your lights off for 3 days and cover the tank with a black rubbish bag and even with plants the Algea will be gone and the plants willl be done, plants can go a week without light.also do some water changes durin the blackout
Also green water will not go away if u just cut back lighting also API accu-clear works wonders on green water it will get rid of it in 2 days max

ya thanks but the uv worked a while ago but I still have algae on plants and glass and sand. the tank is planted how woll I get it out
