Hey people from FFTV,

I been checking my local pet store to find the perfect heater for my 130 gallon tank, but as of now I been told that it a good idea to get two 300 watt heaters for this tanks. I'm sure that can't be my only opinion for this tank. So I'm asking for advise and guidance from others on the subject at hand. What brand of Heater is best stool for and 130 gallon tank? Also wanted to know about The Hydor Hydroset Electric Thermostat....is this wort buying for a dirt and planted tank?

with that big of a tank.....ya..

you will need two heater on both side at least to keep temp stable. one is not going to cut it unless you have a inline heater.

An inline heater would be cool to use for this tank. At the moment I have a Fluval FX5 filter, I might have to modifier the tubing into vinyl tubing for I can place a inline heater. Might be an interesting project now.

definitely!

inline heater will help move water and heat evenly in your tank without much need for 2 heater.

let us know how it went

Love that heater but would not recommend it for the FX5.  The tubbing is a larger size and if you step it down it causes restrictions in water flow.

I really like this link.  Notice how he had this heater but then moved it when he converted to an FX5.  http://www.bharada.com/aquaria_120.html

I was going to do two 405 filters so I could use that heater but it just didn't make sense from a maintenance and electricity cost imho.

This is what I have.  I was actually going to post a video of calibrating it but YouTube is down for maintenance.

I hope to post something soon.

@PaducahFishFan....Thanks for the links this help me to get a better in-take on what ahead of me. I was also checking out the True Temp Titanium Heating System by JBJ. I know it going to cost more, but I know they make good quality heater for large tanks like I have. I hope I get to see your video once youtube is done with their maintenance.
