it could be some type of mold or fungus, snail eggs, baby snails, or limpets. Without a picture, we really can't help you much.

odd your right that they dont hatch. most likely those are other/different snails need a pic or if not look it up. i just leave mine alone and plus its a little hard to take off the eggs
The eggs are really hard, >.< and there snails are not apple snails, and are not the other kind i have in my tank, they have a distinctive shell, are a black olive green color, so i am thinking it is nerite snails. but as got getting off the eggs i'm sure a fork or a needel will work fine. Their fast too, their always zipping along my tank at night!!
