Hornwort can make a mess sometimes. I reccomend any fast growing plants (i.e java moss,duckweed) to eat up nurients. Maybe try running less light aswell

I used duckweed it was a larger species not sure what it's called but it soaked up all the extra nutrients in my tank and my algae cleared up

maybe Limnobium laevigatum your thinking about, but yeah duckweed or any really fast growing plant can help a little depending on what kinda algae you have, and maybe lower the time you have lights on with 1-2 hours a day for a couple of days and see if that makes any diffrence
