how many hours should I leave my lights on for????

MY twenty five gallon is 1 watt per gallon and my 37 gallon is 2.97 watts per gallon I have both lights on one timer I had them on for 12 hr and saw a little alge in the 25g so im bringing it down to 8 hrs I just set up the 37g today can I get a helping hand???

The amount of light needed to  balance a tank varies from setup to setup although usually between 8 and 12 hours is best (replicating nature). Try somewhere between 8 to 10 hours and see if you're still getting algae.

yeah i started at nine got algae so went to 8 got more algae then went to 6 now no algae
Turn off the lights for an hour halfway for through your photo period.  It helps restore co2 levels and lets plants take a break.  This is very good for non co2 tanks.
