I have 10 day old Guppies & my tank desperately needs a water change.

Hi, my Guppy babies are 10 days old today. I've left them alone in the nursery box and I haven't cleaned my tank since they were born. I normally do a 25% water change every week to 10 days. My tank is a Flufal Chi 25liters. Can I do a big water change or leave them a bit longer? I really need to clean the filter & do a 75% water change but I've left it due to the new babies. Can I have some ideas as to the bet way around doing this please? Thanks in advance for your input.

I was a bit worried myself when one of my platies gave birth a couple of months back.

Luckily guppies are quite hardy so don't panic about water changes. I only ever do a 25% water change anyway on my 64L and I don't think I've lost a single one yet. As long as you are careful when you siphon the water out (I always double check the bucket for any just in case).

Also personally don't think a nursery box is necessary unless you have bigger fish in the aquarium. Just remember to treat your replacement water and wash your filter out in tank water and you shouldn't have a problem. I also just fed the young with crushed flake food that the larger fish eat. My biggest problem now is that I think another of my platies is pregnant again and I haven't finished setting up the 6ft tank I am planning on moving them to yet! My young are now around 10 weeks old and fast approaching the size of my neon tetra.

Wc wont hurt ur fish. Test ur watrr to see were ur at with ur patameters and make ur desicion from there. Livebearers are always breeding. Just add water to platys, and guppy and they wil start breedig so if u lose this batch dont fret ull have a batch again soon. But if the wc is the only thing buging u ur fine. Go ahead and do it.
