Once the tank has been dirted & the plants established - will you need to re-dirt in the future to charge the tank again? So my question is how long will the gravel & dirt be good for? Also if possible can you explain what type of practice is needed to maintain ideal plant and water condition. Thanks for any pointer and advice, I have been following Dustin's Aquatic Jungle videos, dirted my 29 gal guppy tank accordingly, and purchased some plants from Dustin. The tank is slowing clearing up from the clay. I pretty excited and just joined. I look forward to reading & listening to other members in the forum.

the dirt will last couple of years until it needs to be replace again or you can use root tab.

When that times come....you can post if you want to redirt it or not.

from my experience, removing the dirt from the gravel is pretty easy if setup is that.

Thanks for the reply, two years is pretty good. The 29 gal isn't bad but removing all the fishes is a pain. I have multiple generations from the original pair for 11 years now and my tank is crowded but the fishes are healthy.

In one of dustin's videos he said 4-5 years, depending on qty. of planting and type of dirt.(addtives also)
