I have a new 55 dirt tank. I'm using tap water which has a ph of 8 and a kh of 4. I'm reading this book called the simple guide to a planted aquarium and in it is a chart that you use your kh and ph to find the co2 concentration(ppm). Well my tap water has 1.18ppm which is way lower then the book recommended level of 10 to 20 ppm.

So I'm reaching out to you guys to see if you guys even check those values in your tanks?

Do you think I will be able to grow anything with that 1.18ppm?

If not, what should I do, should I run co2 on my tank? Doing that would lower my ph but also lower my kh, so maybe I run co2 and dose baking soda to raise kh.

Any thoughts?

First read this.

Then if you want to run CO2 we'll go from there.
