Hello everyone,

I am going to be buying a LED 55g fishtank this weekend. Was wondering if the LED light will be good enough to grow some basic plants? FYI this will be a dirt tank.

Thank you.

should work fine for a 1 year or so..until you need replacement
i dont know about how long... but leds do provide enough lumens for plants!
I got 2 LED ecoexotic fixtures on my 29 gal, as soon as I put them on I had new growth on my rotala, much brighter then the 48w t5 I had, just make sure the LED are bright enough.
leds are tough, since they are fairly new to this hobby the can be expensive and its hard to get the right spectrum for plants, they work better for reefs for now until they get better at lowering the K value. do your homework throughly before purchasing any ol led set up. lumens par and K all play a role
