In my new dirt tank, my crypt spiralis has this whit stuff growing around the base of the plant.  The tank has been set up for a week and a half.  There are no fish yet, and it has not fully cycled yet.  Any ideas of what it is, and what I should do about it?

well iv heard some call it algae others mold and even something else. but i had it when i first set up my 10g and i think its algae cuz my otos ate it all and i haven't seen it since. but i know others have had it and said it just goes away if you just brush it off and either push it towards the filter or take it out your self which can get tricky. actually if i remember what it is its probably dead algae thats why its white. so i don't think you have anything to worry about.

It's not dead algae, because it is growing.  I had removed most of it a day or two ago and itcame back.  I think it may be something in the MG Organic soil,,because I noticed a spot of it in the gravel away from the crypts.

i had some white fungus in my gravel when i first set up, just vacume it out best as you can it eventually goes away ( 2-3 weeks for me ).
but if its growing on the plant itself i have no idea what it is.
