Hey yall dropping pics (yeh i kno they are dark) ill work out lighting later lol here my 65g 29g:dirted: and homemade bio filter i use on my 65 :)

29 g dirted

Plants = moneywort / java moss / jungal val

no fish yet

65g

Plants = jungle val / java moss / melon sword

fish = 5 zebra danios / 7 tiger barbs / 3 clown loaches / and 1 lowly rosy barb

filter diagram

basicly water goes in the inlet (3/4 hose) to (1inch threded adapter) into the top threded cap via a hole

down through a (1inch pipe) with holes cut around the bottom end . water then flows up through the filter floss. then through the biological media . and then out the (1 1/2 inch pipe) back into the tank.

its run by a basic pond pump not sure on the gph its an old pump an the tags are gone lol.

also i have the threded (cleanout) caps on both ends of the main pipe so i can disasemble it all for mantanace if needed :) hopefuly this helps any Q's about it feel free to ask . cost me about 50ish$ i had some of the parts alredy so can say for sure total cost thats just a rough guess. but with the ammount of fish i have compared to filter mass i may need to clean it once every few months and thats only to rinse out the filter floss.

My history with fish.

I grew up with fish always around  due to my aunt an unchl owning a fish shop

and their choice of fish i always loved my faverit was their 2 foot electric catfish xD

and i got hevy into fish myself  keeping alot of random fish over time  and lerned alot about them .

I have done a bit of breeding not exstencively asside for a few that i did welll at that i used to fund the hobby for a while wich would be bettas and angel fish. I do love the hobby i kept fish up till i was 20

and i at my peek had 38 tanks in my room alone and 5 outside with plants and wild fish.

Then fell out of the hobby when i had a 100 gallon tank crack open on me . that was fun coming home to a pond for a room >.<.

after that sold off all i had minus my koi ponds. and a choice selection of my faverit tanks

now almost 10 years later i find the want to keep fish again and im back in it :)

finding out now that what use to be a difficult hobby is a bit easier now with all the info on the web . so now im trying a new .

Fish ive kept over time .and bred

Angels = Altums , bandeds / Bettas = to many to name types ive had a few 100 / Danios = zebras , leopards. giants / Oscars = tiger , red / Parrot fish / Texas ciclids / Barbs = tigers , green / Guormis = blues and reds only dwarfs / Koi / Shibunkins / fan tail goldfish

Fish i like most  would have to be silver and black Arawanas , Angels and Catfish of all types.

my faverit fish would have to be the silver Arawana and Angelfish.

with the tiny fish and only 16 of them maby every 4 months or so and also it has threaded caps on it so i can remove the bottom cap an just clean the filterfloss and not need to touch the bio balls ever i have it seperated with a disk full of slots for easy water flow.

I like your choice in fish especially the Altums. I'm gonna try to keep some Altums in my pond next summer because, like Arawanas, they thrive in space. Have you thought about letting yours summer in the Koi pond? I'm assuming, of course, that the Koi are big enough and the Arawanas small enough to live side by side. I had a Snakehead go from 2 inches to more than a foot during one summer in a goldfish pond. Expect your Arawanas to thrive in an outdoor setting. In fact all fish love it outdoors.

I like your filter. I'm considering a reverse flow undergravel filter someday when I redo my tanks.

those were what i had 15ish years ago i only wish i still had them all xD
