Hi, I started a dirted tank about 3 weeks ago now. the more I've been reading I'm finding things I may have done wrong. I bought miracle grow potting soil for my dirt and am realizing that i should have bought the organic stuff? What should be my move here? Do I leave it as is or re-do my tank? I am also finding out I should have added. Clay. I'm afraid I may have set up my tank for failure. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Sorry for any errors in the text, on my phone and at work in a bit of a hurry.

Thanks,
Paul

Sure people can go all out on their planted tanks with clay, manure, dirt and CO2 but ill be honest with you when I say its not as big of a worry as most people make it out to be. If you go look at pics of my tank, I have quite a few plants in my tank. 8 different types to be exact ranging from easy to hard. I have everything planted in washed out play sand with no dirt, no fertilizer, no CO2 and nothing else special to make everything grow. Everything in my tank is natural and everything works just fine. If you really want your tank to tank off and grow like wild, then feel free to add soil or dirt or fertilizer or manure or whatever you like but just because you don't have those things doesn't mean your tank is going to fail.

Can u please name the plant or plants that u say are in te hard difficulty to grow     That u have growing in ur tank with no dirt no ferts and no CO2.
Ok so the only problem I read with reg miracle grow is that the extra stuff they add to it eventually leaches out into the water Collum n kills ur fish.  People have done it with success but those happy ending are few and far between. If I we're u I would tear it down and get the organic stuff. Better to do it now n know ur good instead of constantly worrying something might go bad.  On the clay thing u necessarily don't need it but wat it does is it helps pull waste out of the water colum n holds it in the substrate till the plants can use it.    So basically people have had success with regular miracle grow but even more people have had succes with organic miracle grow. You can look at my pics I have a 55g dirted tank wih flourite cap.
