Platties

so i was sitting watching my only planted tank so i would nt have to help pack my house and in that tank i have 3 platties and three laRGE amazon swords, some ludwigia, and some dwarf sag. so im watching it and my fish begin to nip at the leaves. not the edges tho but the faces of the leaves. my amazon swords have some algea on the them and my fish were nipping only on the places with algea. are they really doing anything? or are they just really hungry. i feed them every other day and today's my feeding day so idk.
