Adding a couple LED strips in addition to your T5 lighting is a great idea. I doubt it would cause an algae bloom for the following reason:
LED lighting is the future of the aquarium hobby, but right now it is in its infancy and isn't nearly as good as T5 lighting for plants (however there are mega expensive fixtures perfect for corals) so if it doesn't aid plant growth much, it won't help algae growth much either.
However, if it does cause algae problems, try decreasing the photoperiod by one or two hours.
