So when i bought my 10 gallon aquarium from petco about 2 months ago it came stock with these dinky little lights. Im pretty sure they are just normal light bulbs and wont grow and any plants because the gold ribbon plant ive had in there for a month hasnt grown a bit and i dont see a lot of root growth. this could be from the lighting i have (or actually dont have) or could be dude to the fact that i dont add any kind of plant fertilizers or additives... But back to lighting, will any kind of FLOURESCENT light bulb help in the growing of plants? maybe from like a home depot or lowes?? Thanks in advance guys :)

what you have are incandescent light bulb.

Walmart sell CFL  (compact floruance light bulb) at the fish section)...they look spiral and compact. They give out very good lighthing and have daylight spectrium to grow your plants.

Get two of them.

ye its all good now, i went to home depot an got 4 "daylight" cfl lights that fit beautifully. the wattage is 60 per bulb and like 5000k so it may be a little much having two of those guys in the hood but ill monitor it closely and see how it works out
two should fit nicely in the hood....and be fine!
your best best for a ten gallon is to buy clip on lamps from wal-mart and look for "daylight" bulbs. you wont be able to use your hood if you have one with the clip on lamps tho. so if you think your fish will jump out, you may want to buy a glass canopy.
