No air pump is needed they should be just fine. Studies have been shown that they are pretty much only good for looks. To get more oxygen in the tank all you need is more water movement. :)

and i dont know if you know but have you ever fed your rainbows garlic?

cus my fish arent really eating and ive been hitting them up with garlic. do you know how many times i have to do it a day? or week?

I'm not really sure. All I know is that garlic stimulates their appetite. I guess try feeding them different types of food like frozen blood worms, flakes, pellets, etc. Sorry I can't help ya more. My rainbow fish eat like pigs so Ive never had the issue.
