16 Rams in a 60 gallon tank...
I had two rams in a 180 gallon tank and they terrorized all the other inhabitants every time they laid eggs. I had to erect a visual barrier in the middle of the tank and even then there was no peace. Now they have a 25 gallon breeding tank to themselves. This is the only solution.
Once your Rams start to breed your tank will be more like a boxing ring than a community tank. In nature fish can flee from predators and protective parents. In an aquarium they face a cruel fate.
ok thanks for the info
in a 60 you could probably go with 3 pairs of rams, as long as there are many caves and plant cover breaking the visual field of the aquarium. that will keep down agression during breading.
try to choose other fish that stay high in the water column, since rams stay primarily on the bottom if you have many bottom dwelling fish they will constantly get harassed durring breading
Make sure to get some flat rocks they like breeding on those as well.
Oh so based on this do you guys think I should 1 pair of bolivian rams for my 40 gal I am having doubt's now
One pair in as 40 gallon is fine.
