Hey guys I'm new here to this forum. I want to set up a 10 gallon dirted tank. I set up a 1 gallon bowl with dirt and a sand cap just to see how much the plants like the dirt. They like it and so I'm rather excited. What I'm thinking is a black background on the tank. And some type of black gravel. I was thinking to make the plants love the tank even more I was planning on buying a small bag of some kind of commercial plant substrate to cap onto the dirt. Do you guys think this is a good idea? I am also wanting it to be a walstad tank without filtration or a heater. How deep should the dirt be? I set up the 1 gallon pretty successfully with minimum cloudiness.... I don't know how but it wasn't cloudy like at all... I used a ziploc bag to block the sand and dirt from the flow. It worked really well! Thinking I'll do something to the same effect when I set the 10 gallon up. I would really like suggestions if people could give me some :D
