Hi im new to the forums and I've just started keeping a planted tank in the past year or so.

I've read a lot online about snails/shrimp but I couldnt find anything that could tell me what was going on with the shrimp and snails in my tank.

Each time I either put snails/shrimp in my tank they would just within a week or so. I have taken water samples to my local fish stores numerous times when i bought the shrimp or snails for my tank and each time the water always tested perfect for them. and when i bought them they always end up dead within a week or so. at first i thought it was just the species so i played around on different speices of snails and shrimp and it always ends up the same. i have videos of my tank on youtube and its pretty much a non aggressive tank. so if anyone could have some idea i would really love the help

Thanks Dylan

the question is how are u acclimating them...

shrimp and snail are senstive to nitrate level and need weekly waterchange

i add water from my tank to the bag of water their in and i let them sit about 20-30mins

and i try to do water changes about every week or 2 weeks

you should really do the drip method..

all you need to know how to do this is in my youtube channel...i show you how to do it and make a kit

I find float the bag method tend to be very hard for fish to acclimated to new tank and result in death within a week or less.

Not that the drip method is great but I've never lost a snail or shrimp by dropping it in a tank.

I pulled a baby cherry out of my FX 5 filter and it did great in a little planted tank.

If the water is good I would wonder if they are starving or if something is eating them.  Do you have a knife fish?  Those guys hunt at night and are VERY fond of shrimp.  ;-)

lol knife fish are very cool looking but no i dont have them. the fish i have in my tank are:

Neon tetra

X-Ray tetra

Zebra fish

and 1 upside down catfish that hangs out on my logs

^ theres my youtube account you can my aquarium and what i all have in it

All my ghost & japonica shrimp also died off although they took months not a week. My snails do fine & my water is perfect with no predators. One thing I learned is that shrimp don't like water changes as much as fish do. Also temperature variation is also more lethal to shrimp. If I did shrimp again i'd do a shrimp only tank. Especially if I was doing amanos or more expensive crystals & others.

My ghost shrimp keep booming and are all over the place.

Check out this funny video.  Starts off with two ghost shrimp jumping in for food against 4 cory cats.
