I don't know if I'm placing this in the right section so don't blame me.

Hi all, I have this question about rotten plants.

First of all, if you leave dead plants laying on the ground and they start to rot, they will produce a fair amount of algae, but since I don't have a tank with dirt.

My plants don't quite have a soil with good nutrients in it. But dead parts of plants do, so if I leave them on the ground will they fertilize my soil to besides of producing algae?

The decaying plant matter will act as a fertilizer, but will also produce ammonia.  Just remove them.  If you want the fertilizing effect add ferts.  Decaying plants don't produce algae.  Algae will grow in a tank with no plants at all.  It will attach itself to dead or living materials, it doesn't care.
