U.V. Sterilizers, Good or Bad for planted tanks?

Whats your opinion/take on uv sterilizers good or bad for planted tanks? While they do maintain parasites, diseases, green water and algae. Would they also take out the nutrients or ferts like flourish iron and Co2 out of the water than are added or needed for plants?

that's the reasons people used uv in the night (and most certainly not 247)
