Just added some Red Turface to my 125 gallon, taking awhile for it to settle any tips or thoughts on using it?

did you rinse it?  you must rinse it

use filter floss (or polyester pillow stuffing) in your filter to polish the water

okay just buy it and stuff in in place of the filter inserts?

you layer the stuff onto the usual filter inserts, or however you can to make it work.

there are premade filter floss pads u can use also.

if you happen to have a canister filter filter floss works best in those.

if you have a hob that has enough space to place filter floss that works also.

I used Turface (Oil-Sorb) to top off my soil and it was great. It definitely had to be rinsed before placing it in the tank though. You never really get all the dust no matter how much you rinse. Unlike inert silica gravel, Turface contains and absorbs minerals that plants can use. After introducing some a few Dwarf Sag plantlets, my tank was carpeted with the stuff within 6 weeks.

Despite the fact that I don't use filters, the water was crystal clear. The dense thicket of Dwarf Sag helped keep the Turface in place above the soil and prevented the Cories from digging through it.
